| Brief Outline: While singing along to the Bingo song, students sing the English vowels and practice giving their self-introductions. Materials Needed: - Pictures of famous people (optional)
Detailed Explanation: - Write the vowels "a, e, i, o, u" on the blackboard.
- The lyrics follow the Bingo melody and are as follows: "Aeiou, aeiou, aeiou, Hello what's your name?"
- As you sing "name", point to a student and have him/her answer, "My name is..."
- Write an "x" under the "a", and instead of singing the "a" students clap.
- Repeat until all the letters are gone.
Variations: Instead of having the students say the vowel names, have them practice vowel sounds as they sing. In other words, instead of saying the name of the letter "A", students would say the sound of "A", as in "cat". This should help with the students ability to correctly pronounce short-vowel words later on: cat, pet, pin, hot, cup, etc. For larger classes, choose 2-3 students to introduce themselves in between verses.
Teaching Suggestions: - For first year classes, I use pictures of famous people and I sing both the question and answer. After hearing it a few times, students pick up on "My name is..." and they easily say it when I ask them for their names. I also have them pick a card and introduce themselves as a famous person.
Comments: (Sept 5, 2011) David said: I tried a modified version of this on a 6年生 class. I was worried they would be too old for it, but they still loved it! To go with the BINGO song, I added two lines at the beginning: Hello, my name is _. Nice to meet you! A-E-I-O-U (x3) Hello, what's your name? (point to a random student)
I had the student I picked on choose the next letter to cross out.

- 黒板に英語の母音「a, e, i, o, u」を書く。
歌詞は「Aeiou, aeiou, aeiou, hello what’s your name?」
数回聞くと生徒が「My name is…」
