Brief Outline: Students practice drawing pictures based upon the preposition given.

 

Materials Needed:

 

Detailed Explanation:

  1. After teaching prepositions, give the students the worksheet. 
  2. Read out the phrases and have students draw the appropriate pictures.

 

Variations:

  • You could add adjectives from more advanced classes, for example: "Draw a big cat on the chair." or "Draw a tall friend on the sofa."

 

Teaching Suggestions:

  • Review the vocabulary on the worksheet (animals and things) with students to check for understanding.

 

Tips/Cautions:

  • Not all the kids are good at drawing so it might be a good idea for the ALT to do some examples of bad drawings on the chalkboard.

  • (Nov 1, 2011) Paul said: I did this today with a special needs class in JHS, it worked really well. 
    At the start of the lesson I taught on,in and under using coloured pens and chairs. 
    The students enjoyed this worksheet and they worked well together.
