Brief Outline: Students give directions to their blindfolded partner, only with a twist. They guide them to other students and have them shake hands and introduce themselves in English.

 

Materials Needed:

  • One blindfold for each pair

 

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Review directions (turn left, turn right, stop, go) ,as well as 'shake hands'.
  2. Pair up students, and blindfold one of the students in each pair.
  3. Their partner has to guide them around the room giving directions in English.
  4. Students guide them to another blindfolded student and give the command, "Shake hands."
  5. The blindfolded students shake hands and introduce themselves in English (My name is..)
  6. After 5-10 minutes, the partners change roles.

 

Variations:

  • Scatter desks throughout the room to make navigation more difficult.

 

Teaching Suggestions:

  • This activity could be played with grades 3-4 if you don't have a rowdy bunch of students.

 

Tips/Cautions:
