Brief Outline: Students practice any set of vocabulary using Japan's popular '7 Steps' song. Materials Needed: Detailed Explanation: - After teaching the vocabulary, introduce the song. The song goes as follows, but you can change the numbers to any vocabulary list:
- One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
- One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
- One, two, three.
- One, two, three.
- One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
- I usually sing this song three times, each time going faster and faster till it turns into a frenzy on the last time.
Variations: Try colors: red, yellow, orange, blue, white, black, purple. Insert gestures with the vocabulary: One, two, (rainy gesture), four, five, (sunny gesture), seven. One, two, (rainy gesture), four, five, (sunny gesture), seven. One, two, rainy (gesture). One, two, rainy (gesture). One, two, (rainy gesture), four, five, (sunny gesture), seven.
Another gestured-base could be: One, two, CLAP, four, JUMP, six , RUN. One, two, CLAP, four, JUMP, six , RUN. One, two, CLAP. One, two, CLAP One, two, CLAP, four, JUMP, six , RUN.
