7 Steps Song

Outline: Students practice any set of vocabulary using Japan's popular 7 Steps song. 
 
Materials Needed:
  • 7 Step song - not included

 

Procedure:
  1. After teaching the vocabulary, introduce the song.  The song goes as follows, but you can change the numbers to any vocabulary list:
    • One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
    • One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
    • One, two, three.
    • One, two, three.
    • One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.”
  2. I usually sing this song three times, each time going faster and faster till it turns into a frenzy on the last time.

 

Teaching Suggestions:
  • This activity is recommended for grade 1-4.
  • You might want to write the numbers on the board.

 

Variations:

  • Try colors: red, yellow, orange, blue, white, black, purple.
  • Insert gestures with the vocabulary:
    • One, two, (rainy gesture), four, five, (sunny gesture), seven.
    • One, two, (rainy gesture), four, five, (sunny gesture), seven.
    • One, two, rainy (gesture).
    • One, two, rainy (gesture).
    • One, two, (rainy gesture), four, five, (sunny gesture), seven.
  • Another gestured-base could be:
    • One, two, CLAP, four, JUMP, six , RUN.
    • One, two, CLAP, four, JUMP, six , RUN.
    • One, two, CLAP.

手順:
  1. 数詞を教えて歌の練習をする。次は歌だけど数詞の代わりにいろんな言葉でもいい。
    o One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7)

    o One, two, three. (1,2,3)

    o One, two, three. (1,2,3)

    o One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
  2. 私はほとんど授業で三回この歌を歌う。そして毎回どんどん早く歌っていく。最後に生徒とすごく早くて元気に歌う。

 

推薦を教えること:

  • この歌は1年生から4年生まで使えます。
  • 黒板で数詞を書いてみます。

 

バリエーション:
  • 数詞の代わりに色を使ってみます。
    • 例えば: red, yellow, orange, blue, white, black, purple. (赤,黄色,炎色,青,白,黒,紫)。
  • 単語にジェスチャを付けます。
