Brief Outline: Students race to see how fast they can introduce themselves to each other.

Materials Needed:

  • A timer

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Divide students into groups. Lunch groups work the best.
  2. Introduce the dialogue. Start simple and work your way up (e.g. "Hello, my name is ... What's your name?").
  3. In their groups, give the students 1-2 minutes to see how many introductions they can do going in a circle.  One full circle around counts as 1 lap.
  4. For the next round, add more dialogue: "Hello, my name is... What's your name? My name is ... Nice to meet you."
  5. For the next round, consider adding: "Hello, my name is ... What's your name?  I am from .... How about you? Nice to meet you."

Teaching Suggestions:

  • Best used as a warm up.
