Brief Outline: Students try to guess the correct number on the dice.

Materials Needed:

  • Two Dice

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Divide the class into teams, and have them form two groups around two separate tables. Each teacher should be in charge of a table.
  2. Drop the two dice onto the table but don't let the students see them (cover them with a bucket or something). Ask, "How many?" and one student from each team must guess a number. Students may work together to make a guess.
  3. Show the dice and have all the students count the dice in English. If a student guesses the number correctly, their team receives five points. If not, the team closest to the answer receives one point. Play again but with different students being the group representative.
  4. With four teams, there should be two tables. Play two rounds before moving onto the championship round. The team from each table with the highest points move to the championship round and compete to become ultimate champions.

Teaching Suggestions:

  • The number of dice used depends on the number target you want the students to practice.
  • Decide the order to play beforehand to avoid chaos.

Tips/Cautions:

  • Don't let the students touch the dice while counting, as it might confuse the other students.
