Outline: Students practice putting the letters of the alphabet in order.

1. Depending on size of class, form groups of 4-6 students.  Give each team a complete set of alphabet cards which they place  facedown on a desk.
2. When you say "go," the teams race to place the alphabet back together.
3. The winning team receives 1 point. Play to 5-10 points or as long as game holds the students' interest.

Variations:

• Instead of fostering competition between teams, setup a timer and challenge all teams to alphabetize letter cards within a set time.
• Slowly decrease the time, gradually making it more difficult.
