I DON'T LIKE BLUE

This lesson will introduce clothes from around the world and students will learn how to say various casual clothes by engaging in a semi-real role-playing shopping activity.

Fashion is playing a more active role in young students' lives today.

This lesson gives the students a chance to show the things they would like to wear, their favourite designs/colours, and finish the lesson by actually making them.

Also, although the textbook doesn't introduce any foreign clothes, depending on the atmosphere of the school, teachers are encouraged to show foreign clothes via photos or the real thing.

[NOTE: The aim of this lesson is a bit confusing.  The first sentence talks about introducing clothes from all over the world but the textbook only provides generic titles and nothing that is country-specific.  If Englipedia was to venture a guess as to the 'professionals' incomprehensible logic, it would say the professionals didn't include clothes specific to a country because many elementary schools in Japan have a different international background.  And thus so, only providing general clothing terms in the textbook gives teachers the freedom to insert the international clothing applicable to their school.]

EIGO NOTO SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES:

Clothing Go Fish

Students practice use of target vocabulary (clothing and colors) and compose sentences using “Do you have…”, “Yes, I do.” and “No, I don`t.” It's the same basic exercise as Activity 1 in the book but more entertaining.

Dress You Up

Students test their listening and memory skills by listening to a conversation between HRT/ALT.  Once it is finished, they try to dress up their doll to match the conversation.

Fruit Trump: Students go fishing for the same card that he/she has in his/her hand.
