Brief Outline: Students go fishing for the same card that he/she has in his/her hand.
Materials Needed:
- Fruit Flashcards (not included): You'll also need small playing sized cards of the flashcards.
Detailed Explanation:
- Students wander around the classroom meeting other students and playing Janken.
- The loser asks, "What do you want?" The winner asks for the card he/she needs: "I want..." If the loser does not have that card, the winner gets to pull a random card from the loser’s hand.
- They say goodbye and look for a new partner.
- The person with the most pairs wins.
Variations:
- You can insert a couple of Jokers into the cards. At the end of the game, the Joker-holders automatically lose the game, no matter how many pairs they have.
- You can team the students up in lunch groups, so they have to talk only to members of other lunch groups.
Teaching Suggestions:
- First teach them the names of the fruits. Second, teach the two phrases: "What do you want," and "I want..."
