Brief Outline: Students asks their friends, "Where do you want to go?" in hopes to find the most hidden points.
Materials Needed:
- HiddenPoints attachment
- Paper slips with countries written on them (not included)
Detailed Explanation:
- After going through the pronunciation of the country names which appear on the handout and the key phase, "Where do you want to go?" and "I want to go to...," give each student a slip of paper and a handout.
- The students have 4 minutes to ask as many friends as possible, "Where do you want to go?" Students answer according to the slip of paper they recieved.
- Students listen to their friends answer and mark a circle in that country's space on the sheet. They can mark as many circles in the same country as they like.
- After the 4 minutes are up, announce the hidden points for all the countries. The students calculate their total points and the winners get a sticker. The 'rare' countries (not as many slips of paper) have higher points. I used England as the highest points with just one slip of paper and Japan as the lowest points with a lot of slips of paper.
Variations:
- You could use this game concept for different topics. My JTE used it in JHS and the target sentence was "Where were you last year?" "I was in Japan" etc. This is what made me think I could use this for grade 6 in ES.
Tips/Cautions:
- There is a Japanese explanation on the worksheet. This is what I adapted from the worksheet my JTE used to teach at JHS. There is a chance that the Japanese may not be 100% perfect.
