Brief Outline

This activity combines the directions lesson with the time lesson, using a maze. Students have to try and acquire as many clocks as they can in a limited period of time.

Materials Needed

Detailed Explanation

  1. Each student within a group of four should have a worksheet. The first student uses 'turn left', 'turn right', 'go straight' (i.e. directions) to direct the other three towards a clock. S/he asks, "What time is it?" and the first of the three to answer 'gets' or acquires that clock.
  2. The next student now has a turn to give directions to another clock, starting from the start point.
  3. This continues until all the clocks have been acquired or the time limit is up. Different types of clocks can be assigned different points.
  4. Student with most points wins.

hey ben, i think it would be best to approach the worksheet in a flexible kind of way; you can in other words do pretty much anything with it. the idea is simply to keep things interactive and competitive and to get the kids to ask 'what time is it?'. hope that helps :)

Hmm...These game instructions are a little vague for me...Could this be elaborated?
