About Teacher: A listening activity paired with a writing activity ending in student presentations

Cross-Out Spelling Relay: Students take turns in teams to spell out a word the instructor calls out by crossing out a letter on their team’s alphabet board.

 

Diwali: Diwali is the most popular festival in India. It means festival of lights. Student learn about this festival while completing worksheets, making greeting cards and playing various English games.

 

E-J Penpal Exchange: Japanese HS students exchange emails with students in other countries who are studying Japanese.

 

Fast Food: Students will practice how to order fast food calculating cost and quantities.

 

Food Talk: Students have conversations about food.

  

Gain Respect: Learn about UK celebrities and then write about who you respect.

 

Guess the Gesture: Students have to guess the meaning of the gestures performed by the ALT.

I'm Not Luvin' It: An introduction to the 'fast food' lesson or the movie 'Super Size me'. A quick quiz/questionaire highlighting the globalisation of McDonalds. 

 

Inventions: A fun and creative long term project for OC Elective classes.

 

Liar Liar: Students try to determine whether their classmates are telling the truth or telling a lie.

 

Listening Bingo: A fun and challenging bingo game.

 

Lost in Osaka: This follow-up information gap activity to Englipedia's Subway Race and it will have the students practice asking for and giving directions via train/subway.

 

Lostprophets: This is a lesson that combines listening to a popular song as well as a short reading exercise to introduce some new vocab as well as some very basic conversation practice.

 

Movie Bingo: Students talk about the type of movies they like while playing an exciting game of bingo.

 

OC Conversation Test: This is a test in which you engage students in basic conversation skills. You ask them questions and they must properly answer.

 

On the Telephone: Students practice inviting people out over the telephone.

 

Prepositions of Place: This game teaches the students to hear prepositions of place: on, above, below, in front of, etc. The students listen and try to draw an image of a room that is described by the ALT.

 

Preppy Places: A fun listening and drawing activity to help students practice prepositions.

 

Recommendations: The objective of this class is to have students practice a simple and practical sentence structure, using “should.” This lesson also gives students good practice in thinking about their own ideas and giving their suggestions.  

 

Religion: Teach the students about the big three western religions, especially the similarities they share.

 

Shop Till You Drop: Students practice shopping dialogue and use a shopping catalogue to make a shopping list. They then buy items.

 

Simple but Great Bingo: Students listen to a story and write down words they recognize in bingo squares.

 

Spelling Rules: The rules of English spelling explained in Japanese.

 

Summer Vacation: Talking about what you did during the summer vacation.

 

Unexpected Occurrence: Students have fun studying about aliens. In this multi-activity, students learn new alien words, learn how to describe an alien and finally listen to a dialogue about an alien sighting.
