Brief Outline: Students try to determine whether their classmates are telling the truth or telling a lie.

Materials Needed:

  • Small strips of paper - 6 cm by 24 cm

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Pass out the strips of paper.
  2. Using only English explain that the students should write something about themselves in English that is either true or a lie.
  3. They should write "True" or "Lie" on the paper too.
  4. Tell them to keep the paper a secret or else they won't win.
  5. Students take turns saying their statements.
  6. The class votes on whether it is TRUE or a LIE.
  7. The answer is then revealed.
  8. If the class voted incorrectly the student who made the statement gets a reward.

Teaching Suggestions:

  • This is a great way to get to know your students better.

Tips/Cautions:

  • Depending on your school situation, you may have to screen the papers for inappropriate content.
