Brief Outline: A listening activity where the students attempt to draw the scene described by the ALT.

Materials Needed:

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Run through the new vocabulary while using the attached flash cards or drawing pictures on the board.
  2. Inform students that you will describe a scene to them and they have to draw your description on the provided sheets of paper.
  3. Afterwards pass out the Preppy Places1 hand out so the students can compare their work with the original.
  4. There are different ways to draw the room, so students pictures don't have to exactly match the original.

Variations:

  • You can change the items in the room or the characters on the sofa.

Teaching Suggestions:

  • When teaching the new vocabulary is useful to use examples from around the classroom like, "The lights are on the ceiling", or "The clock is on the wall", etc.
