Brief Outline: Students practice saying prepositional sentences and watch them come true right in front of their eyes.
Materials Needed:
- Actionnaire cards
- Slips of paper - at least two for each student
Detailed Explanation:
- Students are handed two slips of blank paper. On the 1st slip, have them write "#1" at the top of the slip and the name of a person/thing in the classroom. On the 2nd slip, have them write "#2" and have them write the name of a thing in the room.
- Each student then draws a preposition card and then proceeds to read their sentence outloud. Let's say for example a student wrote "Kevin" on card 1, "chair" on card 2, and drew the "on the" preposition card. The student would then proceed to say: "Kevin is on the chair."
- Here's where the fun begins. The sentence that was said needs to become true, so Kevin (ALT) must stand on a chair.
- Move onto the next student.
Variations:
- Instead of numbering the slips of paper, try using two different paper colours.
Tips/Cautions:
- Students have to use the verbs "is/are" correctly.
- Some sentences may not make sense: "The clock is running through the wall", but I think it's okay. Let the students get creative to make their sentences come true.
