Brief Outline: This is a listen and write excercise to Stevie Wonders's I just Called To Say, I Love You.

Materials Needed:

  • A copy of Stevie Wonder's I just Called To Say, I Love You song (not included)
  • CalledToSayILU worksheet

Detailed Explanation:

  1. After reviewing the months and seasons with your class, listen to the song. Pretend it is the best thing you ever heard, and ask the students if they liked it. Ask them which words they reconized.
  2. After handing out the worksheet, ask the students to take a moment to read the lyrics.
  3. Then, listen to the song again and have the students fill in the missing words.  Repeat the song at least once.
  4. Go over the answers with them.
  5. Get the students to write down the missing months and seasons. Let them know it is okay to make spelling mistakes. This exercise is to test their knowledge that they actually know the months.
  6. Read the hints with the students on the second exercise. Ask them if they have any vocabulary questions.
