Detailed Explanation:
Here's a worksheet on comparatives. Students are given a graph with the height, weight, and age of different Disney characters. Students must look at the chart to make sentences, such as "Tigger is taller than Mickey."
I did this last year and the students really seemed to really like the cutesy aspect, and even slow learners were compelled to do some work in order to see if Pooh was older than Mickey. You can also change the questions around to suit ability: "Who is taller, Piglet or Hello Kitty?" "Who is older, Minnie Mouse or Donald Duck?"
Smart students can finish this in 5-10 minutes and slower learners may take about 15 minutes.
Variations: - If you want to turn this into a pair listening activity then block out some of the numbers on the graph for A and other numbers for B. Then students must ask each other questions and write down the correct number in order to fill out their worksheet: How tall is Pooh? How much does Tigger weigh?
- Then, have them write comparative sentences.
Cautions:
- Slow learners can take over 15 minutes to do this worksheet. Faster students can take as little as 5. Hopefully the students that finish first can entertain themselves with the pictures.
