Brief Outline: Students have to memorize a picture and answer questions about it using Past Progressive Verbs.
Materials Needed:
- You need a couple of pictures that have a lot going on in it, for example: Park Life or Beach Description. However, you could easily use any picture in a magazine, comic, etc.
Detailed Explanation:
- Have the students split into groups and hand out a picture to each group.
- Allow them to study the picture for 2-3 minutes and then turn it over so that it's facedown.
- Then, ask the students questions about the picture. For example, if you use the Park Life attachment, you could ask them things like:
- Was there a boy fishing?
- Were there two people riding a bike?
- Were there many people playing?
- How many people were running?
- Students who know can raise their hand and answer using a Past Progressive sentence.
Variations:
- For larger classes, you might turn this activity into a writing exercise where students write the answers instead of saying them.
