Writing Comics

Brief Outline:  This activity is for students who have a pretty good handle on English. It motivates students that otherwise wouldn't want to free-form write and makes for a short and fun writing activity.

Materials Needed

Detailed Explanation:

1. For this activity I removed the speech from some Garfield comics. The students then write their own text in. 
   I chose Garfield because it's not very funny on its own and the students may actually do bettter. It also appeals to boys AND girls. They also copy well and leave a lot of room open for interpretation.
2. This activity is quite simple.  Hand out the worksheet and have the students write their own comics.  You may need to provide dictionaries.

Teaching Suggestions:

• Pick the best ones and put them up on your bulletin board or if they don't have a bulletin board then make a little booklet so they can get some reading practice.
