Brief Outline: Students listen to the ALT talk about things in their home country and then they introduce things from Japanese culture.

Materials Needed:

Detailed Explanation:

  1. The ALT will introduce various things connected with the culture of their home country. The example worksheet includes Scottish cultural things.  Change to fit your country.
  2. Students will listen and write the name of each item the ALT talks about beside the picture.  They most likely will need help with the spelling.
  3. Then, the students will make groups of four and draw/write the names of Japanese cultural items.
  4. Finally, each group will present the Japanese items to the rest of the class.

Teaching Suggestions:

  • This is a cultural lesson to compare countries.
