Brief Outline:  Students listen to math problems spoken in English and write the answers.  Then, they listen and follow a number pyramid for those tricky numbers like 30 and 13.

Materials Needed

  • Mathlish worksheet

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Pass out the worksheet.  There are three parts to it:
    • Part 1 - The JTE/ALT say simple math problems and the students listen and write the answer.
    • Part 2 - The students place their pencils on START listen to the numbers spoken by the ALT.  When they reach the end of the pyramid, they circle the correct letter.
    • Part 3 - The students simply spell out numbers 1-12.
  2. Then, check the answers.
