(Aug 3, 2010) FreeToBeMe said: This exercise worked really well for my class of two students. The JTE stretched it out a bit by having me write all of the names and "titles" on the blackboard because the first graders are still so new to spelling. After that, they numbered the boxes from 1 - 9. Then, starting with worksheet B, they would say, "Number 1. This is Bob. He is our friend." The other student would find the name and title on the board and then write it in their worksheet and say "Thank you!" The worksheet was completed in this same way and then when it was finished, speaking together, they practiced introducing each square's character. Then they practiced on their own to get their speech more fluent and speed up the pace.
