Brief Outline: R & R stands for Read & Race. Students work together in groups to gather the sentences around the room.
Materials Needed
Detailed Explanation:
Affix the below sentences around the room, depending on your target grammar.
Break students into groups of 2 or 4. The students decide on the order by janken.
Student one and two are the writers and the other students are the runners. Runners have to race to the sentence, remember it and relay it back to the writers.- Students can rotate roles each time a sentence is finished to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to participate in all the areas of learning.
- Once all the sentences are obtained, the students must put sentences together into a cognitive paragraph.
- The sentences are:
- Last weekend was my birthday.
- I went to Niigata with my friends.
- It was sunny so we went to
- the beach and had a party.
- We ate my favorite food,
- chocolate cake and pizza.
- After eating, we
- played some games.
- It was very fun and
- I was very tired!
- If time permits, students can do the second page of the attached worksheet. It is a listening and writing activity.
Variations: - Instead of using sentences, you can use pictures or objects.
- Instead of the above sentences, you can make your own. Some suggested topics are: Golden Week, your birthday, spring vacation, last Saturday, Waku-Waku day, etc.
