Brief Outline: Students write a show-n-tell speech and perform it in front of their peers.

Materials Needed:

Detailed Explanation:

  1. The ALT gives a show-n-tell example, showing the students how to present their item to the class.
  2. Students write their own speech using the template provided in the worksheet.
  3. Have the students practice their speech for a couple minutes then they have to give their speech to the class.

Teaching Suggestions:

  • Ask questions about the ALT's speech to check for understanding.
  • Ask Students to give a score for each student's speech.
  • If students talk during other students' speech then their overall score is reduced.
  • Help correct the students' speech before they give it in front of the class.
  • Attach your own example to the worksheet to help the students write their own.
  • This is a worksheet that was designed for the first activity in New Horizon 2, but can be used for anyone teaching past tense verbs.
