Brief Outline: ALT gives an example of a Show-n-Tell speech. Students write and perform their own speech.

Materials Needed:

Detailed Explanation:

  1. ALT gives an example of a Show-N-Tell speech, showing the students how to present their item to the class. An example of this kind of speech is located in the handout, or you can make your own.
  2. Students write their own speech using the space provided on the worksheet.
  3. Finally, students perfom their speech in front of the class.

Teaching Suggestions:

  • Ask questions about the ALT's speech to check for understanding.
  • Ask Students to give a score for each speech.
  • If students talk during other speeches then their overall score is reduced.
  • Help correct the students speech before they perform.
  • This is for grade 3 of New Horizon's 'Show & Tell' but can easily be used for any textbook.
