GRAMMAR: Verb - infinitive     EXAMPLE: I want to buy a souvenir     PARTS OF LEARNINGS     TIME: 15-30 min.

None

Brief Outline: This is a pair or team game where students make infinitive sentences in hopes to discover their friend(s) secret marker.

Materials Needed:

  • WantToDo worksheet - each student or team receives a copy.

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Play this game in pairs or teams, based upon the dynamics of your class.  For pairs, have them sit back-to-back. One student uses the boy marker and the other, the girl marker.
  2. Each person decides what their marker wants to do and places the marker on that picture.
  3. Then, they take turns asking each other, “Do you want to ...?”  The person being asked, answers appropriately: "Yes, I do." or "No, I don't."  The object of the game is to be the first student to find their partner's marker.

Variations:

  • You can also use this for third-person questions: "What does (s)he want to do?"  "(S)he wants to take a picture."
