Brief Outline: Students get into pairs, interview each other answering eight questions reviewing a few simple grammar points, the most complex and key grammar being "What do you ~ ?" Then, they write their own answers in sentences.

Materials Needed:

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Pass out the worksheet and review how to say the question sentences and their meaning.
  2. Students fill in the subjects of three of the eight questions, i.e. What ____ do you like? --> What car do you like?
  3. Students get into pairs and interview each other using the supplied questions. The question asker writes simple notes (one or two words) on their friend's answers.
  4. After they finish interviewing each other, students write their own answers to the same questions in sentences. (i.e. I have rice and miso soup for breakfast.)
  5. (Optional) Go through and have each student recite one of their sentences for additional speaking practice.

Teaching Suggestions:

  • This is designed for first graders who haven't yet learned how to use his/her. You can modify the worksheet to make it more complex, changing it so they write their partner's answers in sentences instead of their own to practice his/her.
