Mystery Word


Brief Outline:  Students help the ALT guess the words written on the chalkboard.

 

Detailed Explanation:

  1. The ALT takes a seat at the front of the class with their back to the chalkboard and the JTE writes a word on the board.  I suggest a current word the students have recently studied.
  2. The students must give the ALT clues to help him/her guess the word. A one-word clue earns 1-point for the team, a whole sentence earns 2-points.

 

Variations:

  • Give bonus points for the team that gives the last clue before the ALT guesses correctly.
  • Once the ALT guesses, have a student take the ALT's place.
