Brief Outline: Students listen to the song Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and perform a skit based on it.

Materials Needed:

  • attachment: The attachment includes: song lyrics / scripts / character sheet sign-up.
  • Song (not included)
  • CD player/computer/ipod

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Introduce the story of Rudolph, you can use the Rudolph Q&A activity.
  2. Students listen to the song and fill in the Cloze.  Then, go over the answers to the Cloze.
  3. Pass out the scripts. Read it as a whole class, explaining the actions.
  4. Divide students into groups of ten. Students choose their characters and write their names on the sign-up sheets.
  5. Students practice in their groups.
  6. Students perform for the class! This can take one or two days as you wish.

Teaching Suggestions:

  • You can adjust the number of reindeer lines to fit the number of students in each group - add or subtract a speaking line here and there. If you need another character, add Blizten and give him a speaking line.
  • If you have colored paper, glue, and tape, students can make reindeer noses and Santa hats.
  • This activity is appropriate for junior and senior high.
