• Students probably already know the gestures Y.M.C.A. because they learned this song in elementary school. You can use these four letters as a way to introduce additional letters.

1. While the students are clearing their desks to the sides of the classroom, write the alphabet on the chalkboard as a visual aid.
2. Say a letter and have the students form the letter with their body.  If the students don't know the letter, point to the visual aid on the chalkboard.

Variations:

• Try singing the alphabet song while making letter gestures in slow motion.
• Split students into groups of 3-4 to make various letters using all the members of the group.
• Have the class work together to form students' names in romaji.
• Take pictures when the students form the alphabet and their names and have the teacher hang the pictures on the classroom wall.  Making English more personal for the student could help the students have more motivation.

2. アルファベットの1文字を言い、生徒に体でその文字を表現させる。生徒がその文字が分からなければ、黒板にある文字を指差してあげる。

変形:

• ゆっくり文字でアルファベットを作りながらアルファベットの歌を歌わせます。
• 生徒を３～4人のグループに分け、各グループのメンバー全員で異なった文字を作らせます。
• クラス全員で、生徒の名前をローマ字にして、表現させます。
• 生徒が文字を使いアルファベットで自分の名前を表現したら写真を取ります。それを教室の壁に貼ってもらいます。英語をより個人的なものにすることで、生徒へのより強い動機付けとなるでしょう。
