Brief Outline: Students learn early in their lives to be gamblers with this Janken-playing candy-card betting game.

 

Materials Needed:

 

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Students receive candy points from the attachment above. Then, they
    meet/greet each other.
  2. After they greet, one student says, "How many?" while the other student suggests a number to bet.
  3. If the 'question student' agrees, they play Janken. However, encourage students to haggle a little. A haggling conversation might go like this:
    • "How many?"
    • "Let's bet three."
    • "No, let's bet five."
    • "No, let's bet four."
    • "Ok, let's Janken."
  4. The winner receives the agreed number of candy cards from the loser.
  5. Then, they say their goodbyes and find new partners.

 

Teaching Suggestions:

  • This suggestion is specially for young students. It’s important to stress if they bet all of their cards at once and lose, they’re left with nothing. Inevitably, some students will run out of candy cards, but don't hesitate to slip those students 'secret loans.'

教える際のアドバイス：

    • この活動は若い生徒たちにとって、いいです。生徒が全部のカードを賭けて負けたら、カードがひとつもなくなるということを強調したほうがいいです。一、二人の生徒たちのカードがなくなったら、こっそりカードをあげてもいいです。
