Outline: Students practice saying various animals and colors by placing them on a giant farm.
  

Procedure:

  1. Print out, blow up, and hang the picture of the farm (worksheet below) on the chalkboard.
  2. Pre-color a couple of farm animals (worksheet below) and use those as examples in class.  Show students the examples and say the animal's name and color, make sure everyone repeat after you.  Then, stick the animals on the farm picture using magnets or tape.
  3. Give each student a copy of the farm worksheet.  Before they start doing anything, practice the names of the animals with them.
  4. Next, quiz them on the animal names by saying an animal and the student points to it on their worksheet.
  5. Once you think the students have a grasp of the target vocabulary, explain to them that they are to cut out the animals and color them with the color of their choice.  Using more than one color is okay.
  6. Whenever a student finishes cutting and coloring an animal, have them bring it to the farm and attach it anywhere within the farm area.
  7. Periodically, have the students stop what they are doing, and practice saying each of the farm animals and colors.
  8. At the end of the class, let the students take home their own colored animals as presents, but only if they can tell ALT/HRT the animals name and color.

 

Variations:

  • Use a picture of a zoo instead of a farm.
  • This activity can be used for various topics:

 

Aquarium or Sea:

octopus, fish, tuna, goldfish, whale, crab, shark, squid, etc.

Store:

candy, sugar, potato, toy, toothpaste, cup, etc.

Bakery:

bread, cookie, cake, chocolate cake, apple pie, pumpkin pie, cherry pie, etc.

Menu:

hamburger, cheeseburger, pizza, curry, spaghetti, sandwich, ice cream, etc.

Drink Bar:

coffee, tea, water, milk, orange juice, lemonade, coke, etc.

School:

ruler, pen, pencil, eraser, chalk, chalkboard, chalkboard eraser, pencil case, paper, notebook, teacher, textbook, desk, chair, scissors, glue, tape, etc 

Fruit Stand:

apples, oranges, grapes, watermelons, peaches, bananas, kiwis, strawberries, blueberries, cherries, etc.

概要: 黒板に大きい農場の絵を貼って、生徒はいろいろな動物と色の単語を話す練習をします。
  

手順:

  1. 農場の絵は拡大したものを黒板に貼りつける。
    2. 授業前にいくつかの動物の絵は色を塗っておく。サンプルの動物の絵を生徒に見せて、その名前と色を言う。生徒が繰り返すことを確認する。それから、その動物をテープかマグネットで黒板の農場の絵につける。
    3. 生徒に農場の絵のワークシートを渡す。始める前に、先生は生徒と動物の名前と色の単語を練習する。
    4. 先生が動物の名前を言って、生徒が絵のなかにいる動物を正しく指さすというクイズをする。
    5. 生徒が単語を理解できたと思ったら、動物を切り抜いて好きな色を塗るように説明する。二つ以上の色を使って塗ってもいい。
    6. 生徒が動物を切り抜いて色をつけ終わったら、黒板の農場の中の何処でも好きなところに動物をつけてもらう。
    7. 時々、生徒が作業をしている途中でも、手を止めて、農場にいる動物と色を言う練習をする。
    8. 授業が終わる時に、ALT/HRTに動物の名前と色を言えた生徒だけが、自分で塗った動物をプレゼントとして持ち帰ることができる。

変形:

  • 農場の代わりに動物園の絵を使います。
  • このアクティビティーはいろいろな話題について使えます。

水族館または海:
