Teaching Suggestions:
Procedure:
Have the class small form groups and give a copy of the recipe sheet to each group.
Teach the English names of the ingredients. Students may know many of the names already.
Groups choose the ingredients they want to add to their curry. Every curry recipe must have curry roux (curry powder), but the other ingredients are chosen by the students.
Next to each chosen ingredient, they should write the quantity they want in the box beside the picture. They can have more than one of the same ingredient, but you might need to set a limit on how many ingredients they can use.
Once the group has decided their recipe and checked to ensure the number of ingredients adds up to the total written at the bottom of their ingredient worksheet, pass out the ingredient cards. Spread the cards evenly amongst every student.
Each student should receive at least one ingredient card. However, no student should get cards of more than one ingredient. Keep the curry roux cards for the teachers.
Now, the fun begins! Have the groups scatter and search for their ingredients by meeting and greeting each other, then playing Janken. The winner asks for a needed ingredient.
Once the group has collected all of their ingredients, they glue the pictures into their group's curry pot.
