Outline: Students practice buying items in a store while practicing store purchasing vocabulary.
 

Procedure: 

  1. After reviewing the target language for the mockup store, explain a little about your country's currency and review numbers while attaching the currency to the number, 1 dollar, 2 pounds, 3 pesos, etc.
  2. Then, explain the store dialogue, or adjust the dialogue to your liking:
    • Storekeeper: "Hello."
    • Customer: "Hello, how much?" <pointing to an item wanted>
    • S: <looking on the back of the item> "3 pesos."
    • C: "Yes, please," or "No, thank you."
    • S: <if customer says 'yes'> 3 pesos, please.
    • C: "Okay." <giving the storekeeper the money>
    • S: "Thank you." <while receiving the money>
    • C: "Thank you." <while receiving the item>
    • S: "You're welcome." <when the customer is leaving the store.>
  3. Practice this dialogue with all the students until the students understand.
  4. Have the HRT chooses the shopkeepers, give them each a variety of objects and money.  Then have them set up their shops in various locations throughout the classroom.    
  5. Give each of the shoppers money and have them blow their cash visiting the different shops and repeating the dialogue with the shopkeepers.
  6. Students continue shopping until they run out of money, at which point they come to you or the HRT and explain what they bought.
  7. Take their items, refill their money supply and send them back out.

 

Variations:

  • Instead of refilling the students money, have them switch places with the shopkeepers.

  3. 生徒全員理解できるまでこの会話練習する
  4. HRTは店員になる生徒を選び、それぞれに必要な品物とお金を渡す。店員になった生徒は教室内でいくつかの場所に店を作る。 
  5. 客になった生徒に必要なお金を渡す。客はお金を持って各店で買い物をして、店員との会話を繰り返し練習する。
  6. お金を使い果たすまでこれを続け、終わったらALTまたはHRTのところへ行って何を買ったかを伝える。
  7. 生徒の買った物をもらいお金を補充してもう一度買い物をさせる。

変形:

  • 生徒のお金を補充する代わりに、店員と客を交代させます。
