Brief Outline: This activity teaches students how to make their own snowflakes.
Detailed Explanation:
- Each student is given a piece of large green construction paper, scissors, glue, and sheets of different sized white square paper.
- The students cut out a large tree from their green construction paper.
- The ALT shows the students how to make snowflakes. Then, the students make and glue snowflakes to their trees.

Fold square paper along its Fold the triangle Fold the triangle Cut out interesting shapes.
diagonal to make a triangle. in half. in half once more. Unfold and viola!

(Nov 30, 2011) Anonymous said: this kind of activity is mostly a listening activity in my opinion. the kids will hear words like "cut", "fold", "triangle", etc. maybe not english they will use, but i think the value in this kind of lesson might be that the kids can realize that it is possible to communication with someone speaking a foreign language if you use words and gestures, etc. however, i haven't had much luck in using this kind of activity to get kids to speak. it's also good to keep in mind that being an alt is not only about teaching english, but sharing culture too.
