Tanbo Outline: Tanbo means rice field, not to be confused with Tonbo, which means dragonfly. Students move through different sections of the tanbo saying different things they like. Procedure: - Divide the room into four equal squares. Plastic ribbon should be able to be found in every classroom to divide the four sections. Each section should have a topic. The topics should be familar to the children and words that they might already know -- animals, colours, food, sports, etc.
- Draw an evolution ladder sequence on the board, for example, cockroach --> fish --> bird --> stickman.
- All the students should have their names on flat magnets already stuck to the chalkboard. Move all of them under the cockroach to start.
- Everyone starts in one section. Students partner up and tell each other something they within the topic of that square, then they play Janken. The winner moves clockwise to the next section, while the loser remains in the same square.
- When a student has completed a round of all four sections, they can move their name up one evolutionary step on the board.
- The first person to become a stickman is the winner. Play until a few people have completed the ladder.
