Outline: Students learn how to make telephones and practice greetings.
Teaching Suggestions:
Procedure:
After the lesson target has been taught, teach the students how to make telephones.
Each telephone group will have two cups. Pierce a hole in the bottom of each cup.
- Cut a length of string, thread it through both holes, tie a knot and tape it down.
- Holding one cup, encourage students to listen into the other cup. Ask them if they can hear what you are saying as you speak into your cup – this can be a game in itself.
- The dialogue could go something like this:
- Hi Takeshi!
- Hi Tom! How are you?
- I'm good, how are you?
- I’m great! Let’s play tennis!
- Sure! See you later
- See you later!
- Have the students change partners and repeat the game. Encouraging them to use different conversations.
