Brief Outline: Students battle out to see who is the Yokozuna of vocabulary.

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Split the class into two teams – boys and girls works well.
  2. One student from each team comes to the front of the class.
  3. Students janken to decide who starts.
  4. ALT gives a letter and the janken winner must say a word beginning with that letter.
  5. The other student then says another word starting with that same letter.
  6. It passes from one student to the next until one student is unable to give a word. The winning team gets a point.
  7. Repeat with new students and a new letter.

Variations:

  • For comedic value, have the students crouch down like sumo wrestlers.
