Brief Outline:  Students learn a song over a period of time to do as a warm-up.

Materials Needed

• CD of ‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’ by anyone
• GetHappy worksheet

Detailed Explanation:

1. Week one, hand out the lyrics and students learn the first verse just as a reading warm-up.
2. Week two, student sing.
3. Week three learn next verse… etc.

Variations:

• Use this as a gradual project and by the end of the learning, students make groups and perform for the class.

Cautions:

• Some students (especially boys) won’t sing. You sing big, put music on loud and be silly about it and they feel more comfortable as it seems more as a fun activity, then focusing on the singing element.
