Brief Outline: Team game where students try to make a line across the board.

Materials Needed:

  • Blockbusters worksheet
  • A list of questions or sentences describing words the students know -- one for every letter on the board: "What 'S' is the subject Mr Tanaka teaches?" ANSWER: Science.

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Split the class into two teams and play Janken to decide who goes first
  2. The starting team select a letter and you ask the corresponding question
  3. If they get the question right then they claim that box. If they get the question wrong it crosses over to the other team to try
  4. The aim of the game is make a line going from one side of the board to the other, either horizontally or vertically.

Tips/Cautions:

  • Teams can only answer two questions consecutively so that one team does not dominate the game.
