Detailed Explanation:
The game is played by 2 students.
Each student is given a game sheet. On the first grid, ask students to secretly arrange his/her own ships. Each ship occupies the number of consecutive squares as shown in the center of the game sheet. The ships can be arranged either horizontally or vertically. The ships cannot overlap. Inform the students that the other grid is for students to take notes and keep record of their opponents’ ships.
Students play janken to decide who goes first. The first student announces a target square to be shot at by creating a sentence that corresponds with the square. (i.e. Emi has a cold.) If a ship occupies that square, then the opponent takes a hit. The opponent will have to respond by saying ‘Yes`. The first student makes a note of it on his/her ‘record-keeping grid’ and continues to ` fire shots’ until he/she misses. When the shot is missed, the opponent will have to respond by saying `No’. And the second student will now take his/her turn.
The game continues until one player’s ships are all shot down.
