Brief Outline: Students write a Calvin & Hobbes comic strip.
Materials Needed:
Detailed Explanation:
- Post a blown up version of the original comic on the board and explain the comic. Read it with the students. Keep in mind there will be new words for them.
- Have the JTE help explain the comic.
- Break the students into small groups of three students.
- Set a time limit and have them write their own comic.
- Gather the papers after and read off a few of the best ones.
Variations:
- For higher-level English students, have them work individually.
- Post the best comics on the English bulletin board.
Tips/Cautions:
- Before class, check with your JTE to ensure s/he understands the comic’s meaning.
Comments:
- Ask and you shall receive. Truth be told, the worksheet has been on the site all along...simply forgot to attach it to this page. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

It might as well read "Have kids fill out a comic." A fine idea but not really worth a post on the site without some additional resources. - (Mar 2, 2011) Natasha said: Is the worksheet attached?
