Submitted by: Raegina Taylor Borrowed or inspired from: All over the joint Date added: 02-14-08 Edited by: Fiona Steele
Brief Outline: A lesson on the comparative grammar point.
Materials Needed
- LetsCompare worksheet - includes the game board and Let's Talk and Let's Write sections
- Die - one per group
- Counter - one for each student
Detailed Explanation:
Survey Warm up - survey the students in a ‘sleeping’ style (students rest their heads on their desk), and take a tally on the board.
- Is English more interesting than science?
- Is baseball more fun than basketball?
- Do you like bread more than rice?
- Is love more important than money?
- Is the band SMAP more popular than Bump of Chicken?
- Do you think Japan is more beautiful than Antarctica?
- Do you like sleeping more than eating?
- Board Game - students work in groups of four and go around the board, making sentences as they go. If they can’t make a sentence, they miss a turn. The winner from each group gets a point.
- Let’s Talk - students ask six people the interview questions.
- Let's Write - students write the answers on the worksheet.
Variations and Options:
- Make the board game a competition between the groups as well as just within the groups
- Set a time limit to complete the interview worksheet.
