Give each student a worksheet.
Listening Exercise: The teacher reads each sentence slowly and the student chooses the correct picture and writes the correct letter next to each number.
1. Bill loves cooking. (answer = G)
2. Taking pictures is fun. (answer = A)
3. Running is difficult. (answer = D)
4. Mr. K loves watching TV. (answer = H)
5. Ms. Musashi enjoys using the computer. (answer = L)
6. I love sleeping. (answer = B)
7. Swimming is popular in junior high school. (answer = I )
8. Taro doesn’t like studying. (answer = C)
9. Walking is fun. (answer = E)
10. Hiroki loves playing the piano everyday. (answer = K)
11. I enjoy riding a bike. (answer = F)
12. Judy likes kicking the ball. (answer = J)
The teacher checks answers by reading the questions again and choosing students to answer.
Writing Exercise: Students make five gerund sentences.
Variations and Options:
- Competition: Have students work in groups, and the first group to answer the question wins a point. The teacher will read each sentence slowly and one representative from each group will try to be the first to raise his/her hand to answer. The student who says the correct answer (the correct letter) wins a point for the group.
