Brief Outline:  Students discover their friends' future by reading the palm lines on their hands.

Materials Needed:

  • HandLines worksheet
  • (optional) A blow-up or drawing on the board of the worksheet palm

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Each student gets a handout of a Palm Reader worksheet.
  2. Read over the different line meanings on the worksheet.
  3. Each student interviews three of their friends about their future.
  4. Do the first Interview as a class.
  5. The five questions pertain to: 1) children, 2) long life, 3) happiness, 4) intelligence, 5) wealth.
  6. Students record their answers on the worksheet.7As a class, tally the results.

Variations and Options:

  • The first interview is just yes/no answers. The second and third they must make a sentence and give more information – Yes, I am. I’m going to have 4 children.

Tips or Cautions:

  • This activity will most likely leave the students ooohing and aaahing over their palms, so make sure you leave time for this new realisation.
