15-30 min.

Brief Outline: Students race to collect the lyrics around the room, then try to order the song lyrics.

Materials Needed:

  • RasmusRace workshet: One worksheet per group
  • Song ‘The Rasmus- In the Shadow’ (not included)

Detailed Explanation:

  1. After splitting the class into groups of 3-4, p
lay the song verse twice to get students familiar with the sound of the music.
  2. One student is the writer and the other two are the runners. Runners have to memorize lines of the lyrics and tell them to the writer. The writer may not leave his or her desk.
  3. Students race to collect the lines. When the groups have finished, check their sentences to make sure they are correct.
  4. Play the verse and the students will try to order the sentences. Give points after the first and second playing.
  5. Song ‘The Rasmus: In the Shadow’

I've been watching
I've been waiting
In the shadows all my time
I've been searching
I've been living
For tomorrows
all my life

Tips or Cautions:

  • For lower-levels, take out some lyrics. For higher-level, add lyrics.
  • Keep playing the song until all groups can order the sentences.
