Detailed Explanation:
Before handing out the worksheet, tell the students to listen to a short speech about schools from your country. The speech should change depending on the ALT’s country.
The American speech might go something like this:
“I am from America. Schools in America are different than schools in Japan. Students can drink water in the classroom but they cannot eat food. Many junior high schools have vending machines (じどはんばいき). A few schools have uniforms but many schools do not have uniforms. Students do not have to clean the school and they wear their outdoor shoes in the school. There are no club activities but there are sports teams. Students do not have to eat the same lunch. They can buy their lunch at the school’s cafeteria or bring a bento from home. When it is cold, boys and girls wear pants to school. They study French and Spanish, but Japanese is not popular.”
