Brief Outline: Students use real materials to practice ‘when’ they watch their TV programs.

Materials Needed:

  • WhenTvPrograms worksheet
  • TV program schedule (either Japanese or English)

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Hand out one program schedule per student. Students work in pairs to fill in the worksheet using the schedule as a guide.
  2.
Blank out sections of a schedule and do an information gap activity where half the class have some program information, and they need to ask the questions in pairs to fill in their schedule
  3. Each student gets a program time and they need to fill in their worksheet with the other program times by asking other students the target grammar.
  4. Students work in groups and decide on an order. Student one, comes and asks the ALT/JTL ‘When can I watch ~?’ and uses the information to fill in the worksheet.
