Who That

Submitted by: Joyce P. Le    Borrowed or inspired from: A teaching resource book    Date added: 12-11-07

Brief Outline:  Students practice speaking while finding the owner of various objects.

Materials Needed:

  • WhoThat worksheet

Preparation Needed:

  • Print out a small and a big house; a running and a standing person for the examples if you don’t want to draw.

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Give half of the class worksheet A and half of the class worksheet B. Then draw 2 different pictures on the blackboard. (a big and a small house, a running and a standing person). Then with the JTE, do the examples on the worksheet.
  2. Use the following dialogues if necessary.
    • ALT: Which house is Mike’s?
    • JTE: The house that is small. (then ALT will circle the small house on the blackboard).
    • JTE: Which person is Mike’s?
    • ALT: The person who is running. (JTE will circle the running person).
  3. Ask students to find a partner.  Students with 'worksheet A' must find student who has 'worksheet B'.

Tips or Cautions:

  • Some JHS students refuse to work with students of the different gender so make sure students of the same gender have worksheet A and B.
