Brief Outline: Students must respond to questions to sit down.

Materials Needed:

  • A set of questions: Enough for each student in the class.

Detailed Explanation:

  1. The first student from each side of the front of the room play Janken to decide who is going first.
  2. The first student stands next to the student behind them, who is also standing.
  3. The teacher asks a question. The first student to raise their hand and get it right gets to sit down. The student standing has to continue to move around the room until they answer a question.
  4. The student who is standing moves to the next student behind them and the teacher repeats the process.

Variations:

  • If you have a motivated class, you could have it so that that the student who answers keeps going, and the student who answers the most amount of questions gets a prize.
  • Make it more difficult for the older students by them having to follow up their answer with a question for the teacher.

Tips/Cautions:

  • Some students may have difficulty answering the questions and so may be left standing for a long time. Make a rule where if a student stands for three rounds then they get a chance to ask the teacher a question.
